“ECONOMIC ACTIVITY MUST INCLUDE AN ETHICS COMPONENT”

The Pope’s message to the Centesimus Annus Foundation

 

Madrid, May 2016.-

As on previous occasions, His Holiness Pope Francis received the participants of the International Conference of the Centesimus Annus Foundation in a private audience held in the Pía Clementina Hall.

His Holiness addressed a few eloquent words to the attendees, thanking the Foundation for its contribution to the business community in terms of reflection and dialogue in pursuit of solutions to the serious humanitarian crises ravaging the world today. The Pope particularly emphasised the refugee crisis.

Francis I encouraged the audience to seek inspiration “… in the rich heritage of the Social Doctrine of the Church (…) to set the foundations for an economic and business culture that is more inclusive and respectful of human dignity”.
